This fantastic collectors plate comes complete with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity . Around the edge of plate it says : "JOHN H GLENN 1ST AMERICAN TO ORBIT EARTH" and on the bottom edge it says: "MERCURY 6 - FEBRUARY 20, 1962. The painting by Robert Schaar is of the Friendship 7 space craft hurtling around the earth and in the foreground a montage of John Glen and his wife Annie and Vice President Lyndon Johnson during a parade honoring the astronaut. On the back of the plate it has the "Plate No. 6844A In the Limited Edition of "FLIGHT OF GLORY" by Robert Schaar, Third issue in the America's triumph in Space collection which is produced on hard-fire porcelain in an edition limited to a maximum of 95 firing days..." This plate is officially listed for trading on the Bradford Exchange. The Certificate also caries the same Limited Edition number as printed on the back of the plate, and on the back of the certificate it gives historical information about the Mercury 6 mission.
