This Italian postal card, issued under the Unione Postale Universale, is denominated 10 centesimi and specifically designed for foreign correspondence. The imprinted stamp at the upper left features the portrait of King Umberto I of Italy (reigned 1878–1900) in brown, framed by an ornate oval design. At the center is the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Italy, supported by crossed flags and laurel branches, symbolizing national pride and sovereignty.
The inscription “Cartolina Italiana per l’Estero” confirms its intended use abroad, in line with UPU postal agreements. The bottom note instructs that only the address may be written on this side, a standard regulation for international postal stationery of the period.
This is a fine example of late 19th-century Italian postal stationery, reflecting both the monarchy and Italy’s growing role in global communications. Well-preserved specimens like this are valued by collectors for their historical and philatelic significance.
