Inbal Segev & Marin Allsopp Elgar and the Contemporary Cello Concerto! Inbal Segev was born in Israel, studied at the Juilliard School and Yale University School of Music, and made his debut at the age of 17 with the Israel Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Zubin Mehta. She has won prizes at the Pablo Casals, Paulo and Washington International Competitions, and is now a creative female cellist performing mainly in the U.S. Her second release with Avie Records features Elgar's Cello Concerto with Marin Allsopp & the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the British The second release on Avie Records, this time with Marin Allsopp & the London Philharmonic Orchestra, couples Elgar's cello concerto with a commissioned work for British Grammy-nominated composer Anna Klein (b.1980). Composed exactly 100 years after Elgar's Cello Concerto, written just after World War I, Anna Klein's "Dance (DANCE)" is a five-movement concerto work inspired by the 13th century Persian poet Rumi. It has an old-fashioned sensibility, yet is fresh and modern at the same time, and is a perfect match for the 1673 Ruggieri cello played by Inbal Segev.Marin's introduction of Inbal to Anna led to the realization of this wonderful project, which brought synergy between three influential female musicians of our time.
